Vice President Real Estate, Northwest Region, EXTENDED STAY AMERICA, INC. (NYSE), responsible for the location and development of the first extended stay hotels for ESA, Inc. in the northwest.

1982 - 1988      
Founder and President, Norwester Management Corporation, restaurant, hotel and commercial property financing and development; 30 Skipper’s Seafood Restaurants, Orange Tree Golf and Country Club.

1973 - 1982         
President, the ENI Companies, oil and gas exploration, $500 million in syndication.

1971 - 1973         
Commercial office space leasing, Pentagram Corporation.

Principal, HALSAN FREY LLC (formally R. FREY & ASSOCIATES), real estate development, land use consulting services and permit facilitation, including: feasibility studies, entitlements for 500+ projects, 15 Comprehensive Plan Amendments for Pierce county cities, construction management, successful appeals of tax valuations, and negotiation of sensitive purchases or sales for development of vacant land.

1991 - 1996
Planning Commission Chair, City of Gig Harbor, WA. Responsible for and or initiated developement of: shoreline management plan, growth management act, city zoning codes, design guidelines, amendments to the sign code and a comprehensive community plan for Gig Harbor North

1989 - 1995      
Associate Planner, Pierce County Planning and Land Services, Tacoma, WA. Responsible for obtaining grants for land use study, authoring North Hill Community Plan, authoring Executive Interim Growth Policies, authored parts of the Growth Management Act, Joint Planning Team member, author of Regulations-Zoning, planner responsible for 150 preliminary and 100 final plats, and Development Center Support Planner.

1993 - Present         
Real Estate Development, Various Partnerships, Gig Harbor, WA. Projects including: BHKW purchase of construction and sale of 15 residential home sites, Motman Road Associates purchase of construction and sale of vacant Tumwater Lot which were converted into 4 commercial pads, and Trilogy Partnership development in Gig Harbor of 29 home sites.
